In December of 2007, former IMPACT Instructor Julie Char’s close friends surprised her by making gifts to IMPACT to honor the memory of her father Alfred who passed away that summer. “In lieu of flowers, we decided to support an organization that is meaningful and dear to Julie. IMPACT naturally came to mind with all the amazing volunteer work she does. We’re inspired by Julie’s enthusiasm and active involvement with IMPACT,” said Nancy Lee, the organizer of the initial effort.
That year, for the first time ever, IMPACT had the resources to grant scholarships to every qualified applicant.
For more than 15 years, thanks to family and friends the Char Scholarship fundraising effort continues. The scholarship has contributed to over $40,000 for students in need.
